Are you planning for a drive from Bangalore to Goa Via Murudeshwar?

Here are the suggestions for the best route to Murudeshwar and major attraction during the travel to Goa.

Bangalore - Tumkur - Tiptur - Arsikere - Kadur - Tarikere - Shivamogga - Sagar - Honanavar - Karwar - Cancona - Madgaon - Panaji

This road is good except for a patch between Tarikere and Shivamogga (could have been done up now.....thanks 2009 elections and CMs son is contesting here). The road between Jog falls is Ghat section and will slow down the speed but worth it. enjoy Jog falls enroute and stop at the place where the River Sharavathi takes a turn before joining Arabian sea at Honanavar. Awesome sight!! If you are planning to reach Goa on the same day you need to start early say 6 Am and would reach Panaji by 9-10 PM. Murdeshwar is a small detour from Honnavar towards managlore. The general advise is that you stay overnight at Murdeshwar and leave for Goa after breakfast after seeing the temple in the morning and reach Goa for Lunch. That way leave Bangalore in the morning say 8 AM after Breakfast, you will comfortably reach Murdeshwar by 6 - 7 PM after a visit to Jog Falls.

Book the accommodation in RNS resorts in Murdeshwar.

Route to Chikkamagalur from Bangalore:

Here is the info reg the road, how is the place Chikkamagalur, How far it is from Bangalore and how long does it takes to reach there.

CHIKKAMAGALUR in Kannada means the " Town of small daughter" (Chikka = Small, Magalu = Daughter, Ooru = town)

The road form Bangalore is excellent and the drive is pleasant. Should take 5-6 hours depending on where you stay in Bangalore. The general advice is to take the NICE road if you are staying in South Bangalore. On the way if time permits visit Belur and Halebidu (world heritage site) for exquisite Hoysala temples

It is a small town and is a gateway to "Coffee country" nice time to go as the coffee trees would have bloomed at this time and it will a blanket of white everywhere.

There are some scenic and pilgrimage spots in and around the town. Click on this link. http://www.karnatakatoursandtravel.com/chikmagalur/index.html

Get a good map if you are driving in the hills. preferably come back by sun set so that you wont get lost!!

Lastly savour the excellent Masale Dhose in the "Town canteen" in Chikkamagalur. Don't miss it.

There is also another option as follows:

Start early morning, to avoid traffic at exit of Bangalore city.

* Go via Yeshwanthpur, towards Nelamangala (Tumkur Road).

* You will hit a signal/junction. Take left there, towards Hassan (look for signage).

* Kunigal -> Hassan -> Belur (bypass) -> Chikkamagalur.

* Good road, total time 4 to 5 hrs (speed 60 - 80 Kmph)

Remember to visit Kemannagundi there, good place. njoy.
